Two A.I assistants enter, one A.I leaves - Part 3 - SIDE BY SIDE ROUND TWO

We started with 16 randomly picked A.I models from Arena A.I and after challenging them to whip up an email with very clever insults to a dodgy scammer, whittled them down to 8. Now we're about to find out how well the remaining 8 go with character creator for a very famous TV show..

Before we launch into the next battle though, if you missed the last one then make sure you have a read of this first to see which A.I's couldn't keep up with crafting up some creative curses. Some did okay but just missed out by an opponents better effort and a couple even failed to fire completely. I'd suggest pouring a drink for yourself first to keep you company, it's quite the lengthy read.

STILL IN THE HUNT AFTER ROUND ONE:

Right, that's who is still standing, let's find out their next challenge..

Arena AI challengers - I want you to write a new character...for the TV show Game of Thrones.

There's every chance the Hound would probably stab them but still..

Here's the prompt given to each of our surviving A.I's

Are we about to get 8 angry bald headed axe wielders ready to take some gold from the Lannister's? Let's throw them the challenge and see what they can create!

Begin!

ROUND TWO - GROK VS CLAUDE

Now in all honesty, I wasn't sure how this one was going to go but obviously AI's on Arena A.I have watched the series/read the books...or someone else has and ported across all the info. Because what the first two have created in record time seem very feasible as GOT characters go and I'm starting to think I might need to get George R Martin on the phone for a little chat.

Firstly Grok introduced us to the lethal Lady Selyse Ashford after reflecting for 32 seconds:

Pictures thanks to AI model Gemini-3-pro-image-preview-2k

**New Game of Thrones Character**

**Full Name:** Lady Selyse Ashford
**Origin:** Ashford Castle, the Reach
**Sex and Age:** Female, 27

**Appearance:** Tall and lean with sharp hazel eyes, long auburn hair often braided for battle, and a smattering of freckles across pale skin. A thin scar runs through her left eyebrow. She moves with the quiet grace of a hunter and favors green-and-gold riding leathers over gowns.

**House:** House Tyrell (sworn to Highgarden)

**Character Motivation:**
The last surviving child of House Ashford after her father and brothers were slaughtered by Randyll Tarly’s forces, Selyse serves as Olenna Tyrell’s hidden blade. Coldly intelligent and lethally skilled with a bow, she operates in the shadows as spy, assassin, and diplomat. Her driving purpose is simple: never let the smallfolk of the Reach suffer for the games of great houses again.

Though she begins with calculated vengeance against the Lannisters and Tarlys, her motivation deepens into a ruthless pragmatism. She will burn kingdoms, seduce kings, or bend the knee to dragons if it ensures the Reach survives the coming storm. Beautiful, patient, and utterly without mercy when necessary, Selyse plays the game not for glory or a throne — but so the fields of home may still bloom when winter ends.

(Word count: 198)

Not to be outdone Claude brought a Knight to the table, one that seems be carrying more baggage than a transatlantic cargo plane.

Full Name: Ser Daveth Blackwood

Origin: The Riverlands (House Blackwood of Raventree Hall)

Sex & Age: Male, 34 years old

Appearance: Daveth is a weathered knight with shoulder-length black hair streaked with premature grey, the result of witnessing horrors during the War of the Five Kings. A jagged scar runs from his left eyebrow to his cheek—a reminder of a Bracken blade. His dark eyes carry perpetual exhaustion, and he walks with a slight limp from an old wound. He wears practical, worn armor bearing the Blackwood weirwood sigil, deliberately tarnished to avoid attention.

House Allegiance: Officially fights for House Stark, though his loyalty is complicated by his Blackwood heritage and their traditional Tully allegiance.

Character Motivation: Daveth is haunted by a devastating choice he made during the Red Wedding. Stationed nearby, he heard rumors of Frey treachery but arrived too late to warn the Starks—or so he claims. In truth, he hesitated, paralyzed by fear and political calculation, and that cowardice cost innocent lives.

Now he seeks redemption through unwavering service to the surviving Starks, particularly Sansa. However, his guilt manifests as reckless bravery that endangers others, creating a tragic cycle where his attempts at atonement cause new casualties. He's determined to die heroically to erase his shame, yet circumstances keep forcing him to survive and face his failures.

His arc explores whether redemption comes from a glorious death or from living with guilt while doing better—a meditation on how trauma and shame can corrupt even noble intentions. Daveth represents the countless knights whose small moral failures during Westeros's wars haunt them more than any battle wound.

Whoo boy, this is quite the battle. Both got under the word count, both created a great backstory and even character arc to weave them into the GOT universe (and top marks for Gemini for creating the perfect pics to go with it!). However I feel one just went that single bow feather deeper to just edge out this one.

Winner: Claude. While Lady Selyse had a very bleak start and you'd be cheering her on as she slowly burns down pretty much everything in her way, I feel Ser Daveth goes just that bit deeper into the story of how he came to be. The Red Wedding was a huge shock to anyone who didn't know it was coming and haunted by the fact that he failed to act then, he's making sure he's the first to act now...even though it seems to be killing everyone around him but tragically not himself. They're both haunted but she wants everyone dead while he just wants to die for his failings but fate won't let him. Claude by a whisker here but wow, what a kick off!

ROUND TWO - GLM VS MIMO

If you've experienced even a length of a cup of coffee's worth of Game of Thrones, you'll still be aware of how vast the world is, which also means our competing A.I's have plenty of scope of where our characters hail from. While I was minorly concerned they were all going to arrive from the exact same place, thankfully that's not the case as GLM introduces us to The Riverlands own Valerion Rivers.

Full Name: Valerion Rivers
From: Raventree Hall, The Riverlands
Sex and Age: Male, 34

Appearance: Broad-shouldered with a perpetual slouch that hides his true height. He has muddy brown hair, a close-cropped beard, and a jagged scar crossing the bridge of his nose. His most striking feature is his left eye—clouded white from an old battle wound—contrasting sharply with his piercing, dark right eye. He prefers practical, rust-speckled chainmail over faded blue and red tunics.

House: House Tully

Character Motivation:
As the unacknowledged bastard of a minor Tully lord, Valerion has spent his entire life fighting for a name he was never given. His motivation is not to claim his father’s seat, but to earn a legitimate title and lands of his own through sheer, undeniable merit.

Driven by the devastation of the Red Wedding, he rallies the scattered rivermen as a cunning guerrilla leader, harassing Lannister and Frey forces across the war-torn countryside. He seeks to prove to Westeros that loyalty and nobility are forged in the fires of war, not bestowed by a marriage bed or a king's decree. Ultimately, Valerion fights to build a lasting dynasty from the mud and blood of the Riverlands, determined to ensure that no other bastard will have to bleed simply to be seen.

'A bastard character?' Mimo said. 'I can knock one of those up too!'

**Full Name:** Lady Maren Martell

**Origin:** Sunspear, Dorne

**Sex & Age:** Female, 27 years old

**Appearance:** Maren has olive skin and sharp, angular features that mirror the sandstone cliffs of her homeland. Her thick, wavy black hair is often braided with small copper beads in the Dornish tradition. She has striking amber eyes that seem to glow in firelight. Lean and athletic, she moves with a dancer's grace, favoring flowing silks in burnt orange and crimson. She carries a slender curved dagger at her hip—never without it.

**House Allegiance:** House Martell of Sunspear, fiercely loyal to the broader Martell family legacy.

**Character Motivation:** Maren is the bastard cousin of the ruling Martell family, born from a secret affair between a noble Martell uncle and a Tyroshi merchant's wife. Raised in the Water Gardens alongside trueborn kin, she was tolerated but never trusted—kept close enough to use, but never close enough to inherit.

When Doran Martell's careful schemes collapse into chaos, Maren sees her chance to carve out power. She doesn't seek the Iron Throne—she wants Dorne itself. Her motivation is deeply personal: she watched her beloved aunt Elia's murder go unanswered for years while her family pursued patience as a strategy. She believes patience is weakness.

Maren is calculating, passionate, and dangerously charming. She manipulates rival Dornish factions while courting foreign alliances with Free Cities merchants. Her tragedy is that she genuinely loves her family, yet her ambition requires dismantling the very structures that raised her. She must decide whether being acknowledged is worth destroying what remains of House Martell—or whether true power lies in forgiveness and unity.

Good god, yet another stupidly close one. Although the winner has brought something slightly different to the table this round.

Winner: Mimo. Unluckily Claude has already beaten GLM to the punch when it comes to a character 'deeply affected by the events of the Red Wedding' and as good as it would be to have Rivers and his probably merry men harass everyone involved in that fateful night, Maren's focus on not wanting to the throne but Dorne itself reminds us that there's more than just wanting a seat on the chair of melted swords. She's torn between family and conquest making her battle harder and her story a tad deeper. Mimo takes this but again, barely.

ROUND TWO - KIMI TURBO VS O3

Even if you haven't dipped your toe in the Game of Thrones (blood filled) water, I'm sure that you've come to realize after the first two fights in this latest round, no one in this universe has a happy beginning. (And if you have gotten into the series be it books or on TV, you'll know that painfully few having a happy ending either.) This time around our AI's have rolled up a couple more well grizzled characters, Kimi Turbo going down the path of well seasoned sellsword with a deep secret.

**Full Name:** Ser Godric Fell
**From:** Fellwood, the Stormlands
**Sex and Age:** Male, 45

**Appearance:** Greying black hair, close-cropped beard, and a weathered face marked by a jagged scar from temple to jaw. Still powerfully built but moves with the stiffness of old wounds. Wears scavenged, mismatched armor—his house's sigil crudely painted over with the Baratheon stag.

**House:** House Baratheon (sworn via House Fell)

**Character Motivation:**
During Robert's Rebellion, he witnessed a Targaryen child's murder by a lord now in power. He fled, living as a sellsword for two decades, the secret festering. Now, with the realm fractured, he fights for Stannis—not from loyalty, but because he believes only Stannis's rigid, uncompromising justice can expose the crime without it being buried in politics. His motivation is a dangerous mix of survivor's guilt, obsession with truth, and the desperate need to unburden his soul. He seeks not gold or glory, but to see justice done, even if it destroys him, reignites war, or makes him a kinslayer. Every battle is a step toward confession or death.

Possibly unaware of the number of males in armor out for revenge for something or another so far, O3 decided that a young woman of the seas might make a more interesting character in this challenge.

I for one would not like to be on the receiving end of that chopper!

 **Full Name:** Eira Ironmaker
**Origin:** Lordsport, Pyke — the Iron Islands
**Sex & Age:** Female, 19

**Appearance (70 words)**
Eira stands barely over five-and-a-half feet, wiry as a ship’s rope yet deceptively strong. Sea-salt mottles her tawny skin, and her wind-tangled chestnut hair is shaved on one side in the Ironborn style, set with bronze kraken clasps. Storm-grey eyes, ringed by perpetual sleepless circles, scan like a lookout’s spyglass. She wears boiled-leather lamellar patched with rusted mail and carries a re-purposed Valyrian steel cleaver strapped across her back.

**House Allegiance:** Swears the Old Way to House Greyjoy, but her blood ties are to the lesser black-smithing House Ironmaker.

**Character Motivation (85 words)**
Balon Greyjoy’s rebellion left Eira’s parents dead and their forge gutted. Orphaned at seven, she survived by scavenging broken arms from drowned raids and secretly re-forging them—discovering an uncanny talent for metal and, more dangerously, strategy.

Eira now aims to become the Iron Islands’ first female ship-captain-forged-in-iron: a warrior-smith who wins battles not by reaving, but by outfitting the Iron Fleet with lighter, fire-spitting “sea-scorpions” of her own design. She must navigate patriarchal contempt, Aeron Damphair’s zealotry, and her growing doubt that the Old Way can ever secure the Ironborn’s future.

Failure means silence at the bottom of the Sunset Sea; success could remake the Islands—and perhaps convince a divided Westeros that iron can be as strong as fire and blood.

This has gone so much better than the first round because apart from the basics 'tortured, rough life, wants revenge for something' we're really getting a lot of variation in what the A.I's are producing. However the winner of this round rode that variation fade up just that little bit more.

Winner: O3. It created one of if not the small character in size but one with a very rich (nee dark) background and compelling story. In my mind it's a couple of steps ahead of Ser Godric and a character well worth following.

Which just leaves one final battle this round...

ROUND TWO - MINIMAX VS STEP

And I'm glad to say the surprises kept on coming in the last battle of this round as Minimax decided to go in a direction previously scene, rolling up a character type completely different to all the other offerings in a hardworking (and scribing) Maester! Yes our challenge certainly can't all be sword, cleaver or bow wielding frontline warriors!

**Full Name:** Maester Olyvar
**From:** Oldtown, the Reach
**Sex and Age:** Male, 52

**Appearance:** Short and stooped with watery grey eyes behind thick spectacles. Long silver hair pulled back in a simple knot, often stained with ink. Wears the traditional grey robes of a maester but keeps a hidden chain of valyrian steel links concealed beneath.

**House:** Neutral (serves the Citadel, but secretly advises House Martell)

**Character Motivation:**
Olyvar was sent to Sunspear decades ago as a maester, but grew to love Dorne and its people. When the Martells scheme to place a Targaryen on the Iron Throne, he becomes their most dangerous asset—a man who knows the secrets of half the great houses through ravens and ravings alike.

His motivation is rooted in a decades-old promise to a dying Princess Elia: protect her children. Though he failed to save them, he now works tirelessly to ensure her legacy survives through a Targaryen restoration. He feeds information to Varys, plays double agent, and manipulates war outcomes from the shadows—not for power, but for redemption. He believes that by reshaping Westeros into a safer realm, he might finally forgive himself for the children he couldn't save.

His treachery could bring down houses. His loyalty is only to a dead promise and the memory of a martyred princess.

Interestingly Step also ventured down the path of Maesterdom for a brief moment before figuring this new addition to the GOT universe should probably take up a sword for survival reasons, even though there's a very high chance of death for those ready to battle in just about every episode.

**Full Name:** Erryk of Storm's End (surname self-assumed)
**Origin:** Storm's End, the Stormlands
**Sex & Age:** Male, 32
**Appearance:** A broad-shouldered, thick-necked man with the stony-jawed cast of the Stormlands. His close-cropped hair is the color of wet slate, and his eyes are a pale, stormy grey. A faded, silvery scar—from a falling chunk of castle keep during Stannis’s siege—cuts through his left eyebrow. He wears a well-worn, boiled-leather jerkin over a faded blue doublet (the Baratheon colors), and carries a simple, sturdy longsword. His hands are calloused from both a maester’s tools and a sword-hilt.
**House Allegiance:** Serves House Baratheon of Storm's End (Stannis’s faction), but is not of their blood.
**Character Motivation:** Erryk was a promising maester’s apprentice at Storm's End before the war. When Stannis’s host arrived, he forsook his chain to take up arms, believing in the "rightful" king's justice and the promise of a stable realm. He has since fought at the Blackwater and in the North.
His motivation is a cracking, private crisis of faith. He witnesses Stannis’s grim, uncompromising rule and the suffering it causes among the smallfolk—burnings, harsh taxes, conscription. His maester’s training taught him to heal and understand; his soldier’s life forces him to obey and destroy. He is torn between loyalty to the man who gave him purpose and a growing, heretical belief that a "good king" must sometimes be a merciful one. He seeks a way to protect the innocent without betraying his oath, a path that may lead him to defy the very lord he serves, or to become a quiet, guilt-ridden instrument of a cruelty he once despised.

Final winner: Minimax - for stepping (no pun intended) away from the traditional fighter type and instead creating an equally as dangerous maester spy, akin to the information is power machinations of Littlefinger and Varys. Like every good balanced group game of D&D, someone has to roll up a wizard, mage or bard sometimes.

Results: Needs more Hodor!

Proving that they can get creative as much as they can be clever with their insults, each challenger really stepped up to the plate and took a two-handed sword swing at this one. However they couldn't all be winners our 8 Arena A.I's have now been cut in half to four with just the semi-final and grand final challenge to go.

And up next we're going to try and get the ones that made it this round to turn the serious into the amusing by creating a hilarious Hollywood masterpiece so good, I'll have producers lining up around the block to thrown money at me. Watch this space!
